We are elated that Rotary International President Jennifer Jones and President Elect Gordan McInally have committed to continuing the grassroots initiative of Girls Empowerment.  As immediate Past RI President Shekhar Mehta said in our plenary session at the 2022 Rotary International Convention, the Empowering Girls initiative has taken off and connected with more people than any other initiative in one year’s time.  Zone 33/34 RI Director Jeremy Hurst is not only excited by the energy surrounding this initiative, he is also committed to identifying more Club projects that are scalable and replicable to facilitate more action to empower girls.

As the Zone 33/34 Committee, we are humbled by the outpouring of club projects that have served communities for years to improve the lives of our girls.  It is important to us both that we emphasize that this is a club level initiative.  This is not a “must do” initiative, but more so, a “what are we doing” or “what can we do” initiative, particularly if you, as a district leader, identify needs in your community to empower girls.

Register here for the next Office Hours on Wednesday, September 13 at 10 AM EDT to hear and share Girls Empowerment Information:  https://rotaryshares.org/EmpowerGirlsNowOfficeHours

We are grateful for the time and the energy that each of you brought to the Zone 33/34 Empowering Girls Webinar.  Being inspired and connecting with thoughts and ideas to spur action was our goal. By the energy in our chat and question and answers, we know that more girls will be empowered by elevating understanding of need and through more service projects.

A sincere thank you to all of our panelists that took time to be a part of our 2nd collaborative webinar as part of the 2023 NGO/Commission on the Status of Women conference at the United Nations. You are all extraordinary leaders doing incredible things for women and girls around the world – we are honored to have you with us for this panel!!  We know that you will be inspired once more when you listen to the recording.
