As the 2024–25 Rotary year winds down, Zones 33 and 34 have plenty to be proud of.

This has been a year marked by both profound challenges and inspiring resilience. Early on, three major hurricanes struck Zone 34, with one storm leaving a heartbreaking trail of destruction across multiple states in Zone 33. In response, the Zones 33-34 Disaster Recovery Fund was launched, and Rotarians responded in force. In total, we raised nearly $2 million in cash and supplies. ShelterBox USA alone contributed $100,000 in cash and nearly $500,000 in life-saving aid.

Rotary clubs and districts didn’t wait for direction — they stepped up. Sixty-one projects were launched, backed by $950,000 from the Disaster Recovery Fund and another $740,000 from clubs, districts, and their partners. Every dollar and every donation, including all supplies from ShelterBox USA, went directly to those in the greatest need. Today, $475,000 remains in the fund to support ongoing and future recovery projects.

This year also saw continued growth in our Regional Action Plans, an innovative framework that helps align zone-level resources with the needs of districts and clubs. Our Communications, Foundation, and Membership teams hosted monthly webinars and created practical tools to help clubs thrive. These efforts haven’t gone unnoticed — zones across the Rotary world are now following our lead and launching Regional Action Plans of their own.

Another standout initiative born in our zones is the North American Club Creation Team, a dedicated group of 25+ leaders helping launch and sponsor new Rotary clubs across the continent. Whether it’s special-interest, cause-based, companion, or traditional models, this team is working to plant the seeds of Rotary’s future. The official launch of this initiative will take place at the Rotary International Convention in Calgary.

And of course, we must celebrate Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick. Facing a year full of unexpected hurdles, she has led with clarity, candor, and grace, representing Rotary with unmatched energy and purpose. We are proud to claim her as one of our own.

As we close the book on 2024–25, we look ahead with optimism and unity. The coming year’s theme says it best:

Let’s Unite for Good!
