Zones 33-34

Zone realignment

as approved by the Board of Directors in January 2008

Zone 33 will pick up two new districts encompassing the District of Columbia, Maryland and Delaware under the zone restructurng plan (Districts 7620 and 7630). That will bring the number of districts in Zone 33 to 15. Zone 34 will remain as is with 14 districts.

District 7620

Membership: Approximately 2,700 Rotarians in 70 clubs in central Maryland/Washington D.C.

District Governor: Bette L. Lewis, an adjunct professor at Goucher College in Baltimore. More.

District Governor Elect: Paul Frey has been a member of the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek since December 2000. He is retired. More.

Projects:

Basra Prosthesis Project: Provides artificial limbs to children amputees in Iraq.

Auto Tech Scholarship Program: Approximately 100 returning veterans and vocational school graduates are given jobs at dealerships while they obtain their MLR and ASE certifications. Rotarians provide the tool kits.

Big Books project: More than 3 million books have been sent to third world countries.

Dictionary Project:Provides dictionaries to all the third graders in central Maryland/DC. Approximately 70,000 dictionaries are distributed.

Gallaudet -Scholarships and support are offered to students at Gallaudet University.

Safe Blood -Training missions have been sent abroad to help establish safe blood program protocols.

District 7630

Membership: 40 clubs and 1850 members in the state of Delaware and the Eastern Shore of the State of Maryland.

District Governor: Cam Yorkston is a partner in the consulting firm  Yorkston Consulting, which provides a wide range of consulting services for non-profit organizations. Prior to this, Cam served The Tatnall School as Assistant Headmaster for Advancement and Director of Development for a total of 18 years.More.

District Governor Elect: Susan Giove was born in Brooklyn, New York and reared in Queens. She has a background in nursing and is now a realtor in the Rehoboth Beach area. More

District Governor Nominee: Don Hackett began his Rotary experience as a Group Study Exchange team member to South Africa in 1995. More.
