Governors asked to appoint district chair for Caribbean partnership

Governors of Zones 33 & 34:

I am asking for your assistance. As you know, during the Rotary Centennial year a Twin Club Program was established in Zones 33 & 34. Although the centennial program was completed, the idea  for a twin club program lived on and was the basis for a emphasis on partnering Rotary Clubs in the Caribbean rim nations, (Districts 7000, 7020, and 7030), with Rotary Clubs on the mainland of Zone 33 & 34. Last year, the term “Twin Club” was enhanced to “Partner Club” which reflects the overall emphasis of the Caribbean Initiative.

Our goals are three-fold: emphasize Rotary service and friendship, establish a long-term relationship with another club, and enhance understanding of another culture within the Zones.

The Purpose of the Caribbean Partnership is:

  1. Cultural Exchange

  2. Developing Rotary Relationships and Fellowship

  3. Increase communication between countries

  4. Develop new friendships

  5. Share Rotary ideas and interests

  6. This program would fall under The Rotary Family emphasis as an extension

  7. Potential for developing joint projects as a natural evolution from each of the above.

Partner Clubs are two clubs that establish strong ties and have agreed to team up to complete special projects such as Community Service Grants, Friendship Exchanges, and Youth Exchanges, and provide assistance to one another as needed between two clubs. The Partnered Clubs are encouraged to establish an agreement and register with the Rotary Zones 33 & 34 Caribbean Partnership website and provide a report on their Partner Club activities.

I am asking you to appoint a district chair for the partnership and I suggest that the immediate Past District Governor serve in this capacity.

Please submit the name and contact information to: jvjewelrydesign@bellsouth.net.

The Chair would be responsible for promoting the Caribbean Partnership within their district, encouraging participation and communications between clubs in the district. Once we have all the District Chairs identified then we will coordinate having them listed on the website.

Thank you for your support of our Zones 33-34 Caribbean Partner Program, Eric
